Hawaii started the match by scoring seven of the first nine points in set one. Ohio State responded with a run of its own to come within a point at 10-9, but UH would push the lead back up to six points and grabbed the set one win on a Brittany Hewitt (4 kills, 3 digs) block.
Set two proved to be much tougher as Hawaii rallied for a 25-23 victory to seize control of the match. The Buckeyes scored the set’s first four points then pushed to a 15-8 lead on a pair of kills by Danks and Mari Hole (11 kills, 5 digs). UH rallied and, off consecutive kills by Kanani Danielson (7 kills, 5 digs), knotted the score at 19-19. The teams traded points before Danielson and Croson recorded back-to-back kills to win the set for the Rainbow Wahine.
Hawaii made quick work of OSU in the third set as they cruised to a 25-14 win.
