Krista Vansant
Outside Hitter

Key Notes: Vansant was the consensus top recruit coming out of high school and she is certainly living up to that billing so far this season. On Saturday, Vansant had 11 kills, including nine in the final two sets, in a sweep of Fresno State in the Huskies' non-conference finale. Vansant and the Huskies get into the Pac-12 schedule this week with matchups against ranked foes No. 13 USC on Friday and No. 6 UCLA on Saturday.

Other Players to Watch this Weekend:  Cal's Elly Barrett (Junior, Setter), Stanford's Rachel Williams (Sophomore, Outside Hitter), Illinois' Anna Dorn (Freshman, Middle Blocker), Texas' Rachael Adams (Senior, Middle Blocker), Florida's Kristy Jaeckel (Senior, Outside Hitter), UCLA's Rachael Kidder (Junior, Outside Hitter), Minnesota's Ashley Wittman (Sophomore, Outside Hitter).

• The new-look Pac-12 begins conference play this weekend with a plethora of interesting contests. Washington, up a spot to No. 4 in the latest AVCA Coaches' Poll, faces a pair of tough tests -- 13th ranked USC on Friday and sixth-ranked UCLA on Saturday night.

• Iowa State's march up the rankings continued last week. The Cyclones, long little more than a doormat, moved up five more spots to 12th in Monday's poll. They'll square off with 10th-ranked Nebraska on Saturday. The Huskers returned to the top 10 this week after falling to 11th last week.

• Speaking of teams charging up the rankings, UCLA moved up two more spots to sixth in Monday's poll, thanks to a sweep of Cal State-Northridge. The Bruins face Washington State on Friday night before their showdown with fourth-ranked Washington on Saturday.
