ASTON, Pa.  -- Hiram began its 2011 NCAA tournament run with a 3-1 victory against Stevenson (Md.) Friday in first-round action.

With the win, the Terriers improve to 27-8 overall and Stevenson ends its season with a 31-4 overall mark.

Hiram defeated Stevenson by the scores of 25-21, 25-20, 19-25 and 25-18.  Leading the Terrier offense was senior outside hitter Shaina Bryan with 14 kills.  Senior All-North Coast Athletic Conference outside hitter Megan Woodard and junior outside hitter Ariel Pund were tied for second with nine kills each. Senior setter Taylor Summerfield had a team-high 26 set assists and was followed by freshman setter Audriana Lucha with 17 assists.

Defensively, freshman libero Regina Zyle recorded a team-best 22 digs. Pund was second with 16 digs and Bryan had 14 digs. In addition, Summerfield added 12 digs. Senior two-time All-NCAC middle hitter Kristi Opfer had a team-high nine blocks followed by senior middle hitter Katie Rumora with six blocks (six assists).
