Which former or current coach has had the greatest impact on your athletic career?
My mom -- she coached me all through high school and club volleyball. I owe her everything for preparing me to be a college athlete and for her support and guidance since I’ve gotten here.

What is your best team memory?
It’s difficult to say, but probably the night we won the championship in 2009 in Tampa. It was the ultimate culmination of everything we had overcome and all the hard work we had put in over the course of the season. I couldn’t have spent that night with a better group of people.

What is your all-time favorite sporting moment?
My senior year of high school my volleyball team was playing our rival high school to go on to the [quarterfinals] in the state.  We were playing them in their gym and ended up down by five in the third game and came back to win.  The entire crowd rushed the court and we were on to the next round.

What is your proudest moment?
When my little brother decided to college at California-Davis. He has always wanted to live in California and worked hard to get where he is today. He is a thrower on the track and field team and has a handful of athletic and academic scholarships.

Our sweep against then-No. 8 Florida, at home in 2008. I missed my oldest brother’s wedding to stay and play, and it was my freshman debut game.

What do you want to do when you graduate?
I would really like to continue playing volleyball. I do not think I could see my life without volleyball being a part of it in some way. So, if I do not play professionally I could definitely see myself continuing to coach the sport. I am getting my degree in business and marketing education. Putting that to use in the real world will be the next step.

Do you have any superstitions or pre-game rituals?
I am a very superstitious person. I have to wear my hair the same way. If we lose, I change the way I wear it. I have the same person braid my hair and the same person put my ribbon in. I also have to wear my yellow ribbon for every match. I wear the same knee pads for every game. These change if we lose, as well.

Who is your mentor and what is the most impactful thing he or she has taught you?
My mentor is my dad Steve. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. He has pushed me when I needed to be pushed, supported me when I needed to support, and I know he will always be my side regardless of the ending score. He taught me to be thankful for the opportunities I have, give 110 percent, and make the most out of every day.

Which former or current coach has had the greatest impact on your career?
Our associate head coach Tim Nolan. He has been one of the most influential persons I have met at to USC. Technically, he has helped me with everything from my setting footwork to block timing. As a person, he cares about his players and has taught me to enjoy the journey through a sense of humor and by having fun.
