MILWAUKEE – Marquette knocked off No. 23 Michigan, 3-1 (25-17, 25-23, 21-25, 25-19), in its second match of the Golden Eagle Classic.

The Golden Eagles, winners of five consecutive matches, improve to 6-1 on the season while handing the Wolverines their first loss of the year.

Lindsey Gosh led the way for MU with 14 kills on 53 total swings at outside hitter, while three other Golden Eagles reached double digits. Setter Elizabeth Koberstein dished out a season-high 50 assists and libero Julie Jeziorowski added 23 digs.

Michigan was led by 17 kills from Lexi Erwin along with 10 kills each from Jennifer Cross and Molly Toon.

No. 23 Michigan is the highest ranked opponent MU has ever defeated, topping last year's NCAA tournament victory against No. 24 Western Kentucky.

The win is also the first for the Golden Eagles against a ranked opponent at the Al McGuire Center.

Marquette improves to 1-4 all-time against the Wolverines.
