ELMHURST, Ill. -- Elmhurst advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament by upending Webster 25-19, 25-16, 25-9 in front of a home crowd at R.A. Faganel Hall.

Elmhurst (30-7) traded points with Webster (24-10) for much of the first set before opening up a 15-12 lead. The Bluejays slowly created a five-point cushion and put the first set away on a kill by Marci Novak.

The Bluejays rattled off five consecutive points behind Hannah Lessen's serve and took a 10-5 lead. Elmhurst built an 18-9 cushion and cruised to the nine-point win in the second set.

Elmhurst dominated the third set by getting out to a 10-1 lead and easing to the 25-9 victory.

Elmhurst finished the match hitting .310, including .485 in the third set. Megan Reynolds, Antonéya Veasy Smith, and Novak all reached double figures in kills.

Novak led the way with 14 kills and 14 digs while Reynolds pounded down 13 kills and totaled three blocks. Veasy Smith put the ball down 12 times while hitting .455. Kaitlyn Wilks added six kills while Sam Szarmach led the squad in digs with 18. Erin Thill totaled a team-leading 32 assists while Katie Reffer finished with 15.

Webster finished the match hitting .094. Jenny Howard led the Gorloks in the loss with nine kills and 11 digs.
