Purdue's Drew tallies 23 kills in win

  After dropping the second set 19-25, No. 8 Purdue rallied to defeat Western Michigan in four sets.

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - The No. 8 Boilermakers closed out the weekend at the Holiday Inn/University Plaza Invitational with an offensive show against Western Michigan. Purdue won the match 25-14, 19-25, 25-17, 25-12 and outhit the Broncos .383 to .150.

Junior Annie Drews capped a stellar weekend with a match-high 23 kills on a .439 hitting effort, while senior KiKi Jones and junior Sam Epenesa also reached double-digits and with a hitting percentage higher than .300. The Boilers also won the battle at the net with Jones putting up a team-leading six stuffs and senior setter Val Nichol adding five blocks.

Defensively, junior Amanda Neill pulled up 17 digs, while redshirt freshman Ashley Evans added 15. Redshirt sophomore Kate Workman and Drews chipped in seven saves apiece.

Drews and Nichol were named to the all-tournament team.
