Penn State Athletics | September 19, 2014 Nittany Lions pounce on Eastern Illinois Share UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. -- No. 3 Penn State women's volleyball (9-1) rolled past Eastern Illinois (5-6) in straight sets (25-10, 25-9, 25-17) Friday afternoon in Rec Hall. The Nittany Lions improve to 1-0 in the Penn State Alumni Classic. Nia Grant and Simone Lee fueled the offense with 10 kills apiece. Grant also recorded a .625 hitting clip on 16 errorless swings, while also posting a team-high five blocks. Aiyana Whitney and Megan Courtney each finished second on the squad with seven kills each. Courtney finished tied for first on the team with 10 digs. Micha Hancock paced the squad to a .440 hitting clip, adding a season-high six kills on .600 hitting. Hancock also logged her second double-double of the season with 30 assists and 10 digs. #PSUVB takes down EIU in straight sets (25-10, 25-9, 25-17) to move to 9-1 on the year.
