We are down to one. Baylor is last remaining undefeated team in the 2019 women's college volleyball season.
Cal was the second-to-last undefeated team, but the Golden Bears lost to No. 1 Stanford in four sets on Sept. 26. Now only Baylor can still attempt to do something that hasn't been achieved since 2009 national champion Penn State — finish the year unbeaten.
Baylor's latest win came Wednesday, Oct. 12 against TCU in a 3-0 sweep. The Bears have won 25 straight sets since Sept. 12, which includes eight consecutive sweeps.
Here's the road ahead for Baylor volleyball:
No. 1 Baylor (15-0)
Last game: def. TCU, 3-0
Next: vs Texas Tech, Saturday, Oct. 19, 3 p.m. ET|ESPN +
Baylor has climbed from the No. 20 spot in the 2019 preseason poll to No. 1 for the first time in program history. This came after the Bears notably took down then-No. 18 Creighton, No. 4 Wisconsin and No. 11 Marquette in non-conference play.
The Bears are now 5-0 in the Big 12, most recently beating TCU in Fortworth Texas, on Oct. 12. Baylor will make their way back home to take on Texas Tech Oct. 19 as its conference schedule continues.
Thirteen of Baylor's 15 wins this season have come via sweep, and they are currently on a 9-0 sweep streak. The Bears have dropped only two sets on the year, one to the Badgers on Sept. 6 and the other to Houston on Sept. 12.
