Junior outside hitter Emily Hartong had two impressive matches this past week to continue to boost the Rainbow Wahine to a perfect 12-0 in the Big West. Against Long Beach State, she had a career-high 33 kills paired with 15 digs to earn a 3-1 win. Setting another career effort, Hartong posted 16 digs along with 29 kills in Hawaii's 3-2 defeat of UC Irvine. The pair of double-doubles were her fifth and sixth of the year.
Ohio State Athletics
Ohio State's Amanda Peterson guided the Buckeyes to a 2-0 week, including a win against then-No. 4 Nebraska. The 3-1 win was the program's first against the Huskers since 1991 and its first against a top-five team since 2006. Against Nebraska, Peterson tallied 46 assists and a career-high 16 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. In the Buckeyes' 3-0 win versus Iowa, she had 46 assists and 11 digs, picking up another double-double.
Florida State Athletics
Sareea Freeman, senior middle hitter for the Seminoles, was a huge force for Florida State going for three wins on the week, including a win against ranked-rival Florida. FSU also earned victories against Virginia and Virginia Tech. Freeman combined for 24 kills, 2.67 kills per set and a .455 hitting clip. Her hitting percentage currently ranks second nationally at .455 on the season. The win against Florida snapped a 21-match losing streak to the Gators that began in 1995.
