LA JOLLA, Calif. -- With less than 72 hours after arriving from a six-hour bus ride, No. 8 Loyola Marymount was back on the road to La Jolla, to face rival and 14th-ranked UC San Diego. The Tritons used a timely extra-man goal and a strong second half for an 11-7 win in Western Water Polo Association play on Wednesday night.

LMU (5-5, 0-1) held leads of 2-0 and 3-1 but saw UCSD (6-6, 1-0) take advantage in the second half, including a 4-1 edge in the third quarter to pull away. Tied at 5-5, UCSD scored four in a row, including two 6-on-5 goals and a five-meter goal.
