LA JOLLA, Calif. - No. 3 UCLA registered a 12-9 victory against No. 6 Loyola Marymount on Sunday evening to win the 2011 Triton Invitational on the campus of UC San Diego. Earlier in the day, the Bruins upended No. 9 San Diego State, 8-7.

Sophomore Brooke Martin registered three goals in the championship match to lead UCLA past Loyola Marymount. Seniors Priscilla Orozco and Kelly Easterday each tallied two goals in the win.

UCLA (12-1) and Loyola Marymount (8-2) each scored three goals in the first two quarters, entering halftime with a 6-6 deadlock. UCLA outscored the Lions in each of the final two periods - 3-1 in the third and 3-2 in the fourth - to earn a 12-9 victory.

Sunday evening's victory marked UCLA's 12th win in its first 13 matches this spring.

Earlier Sunday, the Bruins overcame a late rally by San Diego State to win, 8-7, in a semifinal match. Orozco, senior Noel Umphrey and junior KK Clark each scored a pair of goals to lead the Bruins in that victory.

Against San Diego State, UCLA led from the start. The Bruins opened the first quarter by taking a 2-0 lead, and owned a 3-1 cushion over the Aztecs after two periods. UCLA led 5-2 after three quarters and held on for a one-goal victory in the semifinal contest.
