WHITEWATER, Wis. -- No. 12 Wisconsin-Whitewater went 3-0 in the 2012 Border Brawls on Saturday. UW-Whitewater defeated Simpson 36-3, Trine 36-3, and concluded with a 31-8 victory against 13th-ranked Elmhurst.

Mike Schloegel raised his record to 15-5 with a forfeit win at 125 pounds to get Whitewater off to a 6-0 lead against Simpson. Jake Fredricksen, now 21-2 and ranked sixth at 133 pounds in the NWCA rankings, gave Whitewater a 10-0 lead with his 17-4 win against Simpson's Davin Rausch.

Simpson's lone points came from Jeff Sands' 5-2 win at 141 pounds against Elroy Perkin, cutting Whitewater's advantage to 10-3.

Brian Lewis, at 149 pounds, started a seven-match win streak for the Warhawks by defeating Stephen Blayer 6-3 to push Whitewater's advantage to 13-3. 

Corey Schmidt defeated Brian Haynes at 157 pounds 4-1 for a 16-3 Whitewater lead. Cedric Gibson notched his 20th win of the season and added four points to Whitewater's score with a major decision to make it 20-3 by defeating Cory Stratton 20-6 at 165 pounds. 

Reid Dickerson defeated Justin Bruce 5-3 at 174 pounds to increase the Warhawks' lead to 23-3. David Dwyer won his 18th match of the season 15-6 against Simpson's Taylor Witzel at 184 pounds, giving Whitewater a 27-3 advantage.

Adam Latella, now 5-2 on the season after his 5-2 win against Jared Bevins, gave Whitewater a 30-3 lead.  At the heavyweight class, Corey Anderson delivered the final blow by scoring his fifth pin of the season on Simpson's Tony Saucedo 53 seconds into the match, sealing the 36-3 win for Whitewater.

Whitewater won nine of the ten matches against Trine, but six Warhawk wins came by two points or less. David Dwyer knocked off a ranked wrestler for the second day in row, with his 4-3 win against Ryan Pieper. Pieper is ranked ninth in the NWCA poll.

Anderson went 3-0 on the day, pinning all three opponents in the first period. Fredricksen, ranked sixth in DIII, Lewis, Schmidt, Gibson and Latella all went 3-0 in the Border Brawl. The Warhawks improved their record to 18-6 in dual meets.
