MINNEAPOLIS -- No. 1 Wartburg wrestling team (18-0 overall) defeated No. 22 Augsburg (5-5) Thursday in the annual Battle of the 'Burgs.

Wartburg (18-0 overall), the defending Division III national champions and top-ranked team in the National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III national poll, won eight of 10 bouts against Augsburg (5-5 overall), ranked No. 22 in the national poll. Wartburg claimed three major decisions and a technical fall among its eight victories.

The closest match of the night came at 197, as Augsburg's Matt Hechsel rallied from a 7-3, third-period deficit with a reversal and three-point near-fall in the final 24 seconds of the third period to tie his match with Wartburg's No. 7-ranked Puna Soriano at eight. However, Soriano scored a takedown seven seconds into the first sudden-victory overtime session to claim a 10-8 win.
