Former NCAA wrestler Anthony Robles surprises 8th grade wrestler

GRESHAM, Ore. (KOIN) — Elijah Mott recently joined the 8th-grade wrestling team at H.B. Lee Middle School in the Reynolds School District. So far he’s won most of his matches.

But he didn’t join the team until after teacher/basketball coach Eddie Schauffler told him about Anthony Robles.

NCAA wrestling: Proposal would let wrestlers compete in shorts

The NCAA Wrestling Rules Committee recommended allowing wrestlers to compete in shorts designed for the sport and removing all language in the rules book regarding the length of a wrestler’s hair.

Penn State wrestling: Bo Nickal Wins the Hodge Trophy

Penn State Nittany Lion wrestler Bo Nickal has won the WIN Magazine/Culture House Dan Hodge Trophy, presented annually to the top collegiate wrestler in the nation by ASICS. The Hodge Trophy has been awarded since 1995. The three-time NCAA champion finished first in the voting, just ahead of teammate Jason Nolf (Yatesboro, Pa.).  A Nittany Lion has now won the last three Hodge Trophy awards.
